Job Description

The General Service Technician role combines front and back shop responsibilities, including at least two days per week at the front counter. This position performs routine vehicle repairs and maintenance per company standards and manufacturer specs, communicates vehicle issues to guests, and plays a key role in providing a superior guest experience, driving sales, and maintaining a welcoming store atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform basic vehicle services and repairs efficiently and accurately according to Monro standards.
2. Perform tire services including wheel removal, balancing, patching/plug repairs, mounting, installation, and TPMS service.
3. Perform vehicle services such as oil changes, lubrications, basic maintenance (bulb, wiper, filter replacements), and battery testing/installation.
4. Complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, identifying and communicating additional needed services.
5. Assist in inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading, and stocking inventory.
6. Maintain store cleanliness and ensure it is guest-ready at all times.
7. Perform services following safety standards, including wheel torque, oil safety, and compliance procedures.
8. Test drive vehicles per policy, observing traffic laws and safety protocols.
9. Adhere to company policies, government standards, environmental codes, and OSHA standards, using all safety equipment and procedures.
10. Maintain technical knowledge through completion of Monro University training modules.
11. Operate and maintain equipment safely, including lifts, welders, brake lathes, etc.
12. Assist management with guest care, work orders, register assistance, facility maintenance, and purchase orders.
13. Serve as a secondary key holder, responsible for opening and closing duties.
14. Communicate effectively about all products and services offered to guests.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Automotive training or equivalent experience in basic car maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
• Own a basic set of tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
