General Production Operator (GPO) - Machine Shop

LOCATION: Akron, OH, USA

Shifts:

• Monday-Thursday nights: 5pm-3:30am or 6:30pm-5am

*Additional hourly shift premium for night shifts

Job Summary:

General Production Operators (GPOs) support manufacturing by operating manual machines and hand grinders. They are responsible for finishing and testing high-precision parts used in the manufacture of compressors. Quality checks are performed on every part using precision measuring equipment to ensure product integrity. Production schedules are managed via a dispatch list using SAP.

Most GPOs work individually in an assigned workcenter; some work centers are team-oriented. The specific work center depends on the size and type of the parts being machined. Job Responsibilities / Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Attention to detail

• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment (overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.)
• Manufacturing and/or mechanical experience
• Experience using hand grinders or similar tools
