Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a production worker for our Sioux Falls facility to feed and pack cartons on the packaging line. You will ensure smooth machine operation, inspect products, and prepare cartons for shipping in a timely, accurate manner.

You must read, write and understand English and have basic math skills. The role requires standing long shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs, with emphasis on safety and teamwork on the line.

Job Details
Position Summary

The feeder is a production worker that takes printed blanks / flat cartons and neatly places them into the machine to be formed and glued. The packer is a production worker that pulls cartons / product that has been formed and glued by the machine in a predetermined machine count, they inspect the newly made cartons, place them in a predetermined customer packaging and get them ready for shipping.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Housekeeping in their work area.
  • Verification of materials running on load.
  • Feed according to operator instructions.
  • Fan every handful checking for defects while feeding machine.
  • Maintain constant communication with crew.
  • Watch and listen for jam-ups.
  • Follow returns materials procedure.
  • Check new corrugated for correct pack.
  • Remove jams and restart machine based on operator instructions.
  • Clean glue pots, machinery etc. when necessary.
  • Inspect cartons and pack according to specifications.
  • Must be able to pack at a speed which keeps up with the machine.
  • Must be able to pick up at least 75 cartons at a time.
  • Inform operator of any problems.
  • Must be able and willing to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to move materials according to established safety instructions.
  • Cannot be afraid to ask questions.
  • Have a positive attitude toward your work and the people around you.
  • Other duties as apparent or assigned. (Such as moving to different machines)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to read, understand and follow job jacket instructions.
  • Knowledge of location and use of all safety devices in area.
  • Must be coordinated to perform job safely and quickly.
Education And Experience
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must have basic math skills.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to tolerate repetitious work.
  • Must be able to lift and handle at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to keep up with machine speeds.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time 8 and 12 hours shifts.
  • Must not be colorblind.
  • Must be able and willing, when requested, to work any shift and overtime.
