GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This posting is for the purpose of creating a pool of qualified applicants for teacher positions in art for the 2024-2025 school year. Under the direction of the school principal, the Art Teacher will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. Responsibilities include:

1. Providing an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals.
2. Supervising students in various school-related settings.
3. Monitoring and evaluating student outcomes.
4. Communicating and interacting with students, parents, staff, and the community.
5. Developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
6. Maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures and practices.
7. Monitoring appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, VBCPS policies, and effective instructional practices. A thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process is required, along with the ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. The candidate should also demonstrate:

1. Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
2. Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
3. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Must have or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
