Job summary

Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. in Pueblo, CO is seeking General or Skilled Construction Laborers. The role involves working year-round outdoors on underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, and trenchless projects.

You should have experience with trenchless boring systems, heavy equipment operation, and surveying. Applicants must have a valid driver's license (Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement preferred) and pass DOT drug tests and background checks. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground utility construction, heavy highway or bridges is preferred.
• Experience with trenchless boring systems (Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring, Auger Boring) preferred.
• Experience operating excavators, backhoes, skid-steers, forklifts, and similar equipment.

Responsibilities

• Climb ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches and perform manual/material handling tasks.
• Support setup of materials, fueling, and use of hand/power tools and trenchless machines.
• Survey, install and weld pipe, and assist with related construction activities as needed.

OUR DUTIES

We work year-round, outdoors and in all types of environments and weather conditions throughout the middle 1/3 of the United States. Our projects typically last one to two weeks at a time and we work weekends as needed.

Our day starts with a safety briefing and travel to our job site followed by loading/unloading trailers, setting up materials, fueling equipment, operating hand/power tools, trenchless machines and heavy equipment, surveying, installing and welding pipe, and other related construction activities.

WE ARE SEEKING GENERAL LABORERS & SKILLED LABORERS

with experience in the following skills or similar is preferred:

• Construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding, etc.
• Trenchless experience operating specialized equipment such as Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring and/or Auger Boring systems.
• Heavy equipment experience loading/unloading materials, excavating soil, operating and maintaining excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts, etc.
• Jobsite set up experience interpreting plans and specifications, using surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment.

Essential job duties include climbing ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches; walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing; full range of motion and use of arms and legs.

Successful applicants must have a valid driver’s license (Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement preferred) and pass a DOT physical, drug tests and background checks.
