Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. is hiring a General Mill Hand / General Labor Pool in Reading, PA. The role is on-site with two shift options and a structured 8-week training program beginning at $19.50 per hour.

After training, employees may join the bonus pool and earn higher hourly rates (up to $26.50/hr with shift differentials). Opportunities for growth, safety-first culture, and company-supported benefits are emphasized.

• Assist at the assigned slitting machines and help with productivity.
• Handle material from slitting to shipping per procedures.

Wieland is hiring a General Mill Hand/ General Labor Pool / General Helper. The General Mill Hand/ General Labor Pool will be responsible for Processing products which meet or exceed customer specifications at an acceptable productivity level. With safety at the forefront, the training for this position is expected to last 8 weeks. After 8 weeks of training at either slitting line, the employee must complete High Risk Training to graduate to "A Rate" General Labor Pool and start to earn the bonus. This role is located in Reading, PAand will be fully on-site.

Pay & Growth Opportunities

• Start strong: 8 weeks of paid training on first shift at $19.50/hour
• Boost your pay: After training, enter the bonus pool, earning $4.00+ more per hour
• Grow with us: Attendance-based increases at 5 and 8 months
• Earn more: In 8 weeks earn more than $23.50 and in 8 months, many employees reach up to $26.50/hour + shift differentials
• Shift options: 2nd shift 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (+$1.75/hr) or 3rd shift 11:00 pm - 7:00 am (+$1.25/hr)

Responsibilities

General Mill Hand / General Labor Pool / General Helper Responsibilities:

• Comply with all safety regulations while in the plant.
• Comply with the Wieland Heyco Quality System and work instruction documents.
• Review the mill card prior to processing and understand the customer requirements.
• Assist at the assigned slitting machines and help with productivity.
• Handle material from slitting to shipping in the following manner: Banding, Skidding, Weighing, Identifying, Returning material to stock as necessary
• Complete all quality checks and to enter the required information onto the mill card.
• Comply with the Heyco Quality System at all times during processing.
• Keep the work area clean.

General Mill Hand/ General Labor Pool- Class C Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanically and mathematically inclined.
• Able to use the computer operations.
• Able to learn how to read a micrometer.
• Frequent standing, bending, stooping, gripping
• Frequent walking.
• Some lifting and carrying short distances (40 lbs)
• Manual dexterity needed to perform activities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform computations.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
• Assist the operator process with the customer order to completion from the mill card specifications

Work Environment- Manufacturing Plant

License- Fork Lift License and Crane Certification
