Job Overview

Plans, directs, and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations within various departments of the store. Serves as a mentor and coach for all team members. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and ensure customer needs are met with quick and efficient service. Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.

What You'll be Doing:
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Responsible for staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for team members, and being involved with and accountable for promotion decisions.
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
  • Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain shrinkage levels for the department.
  • Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
  • Ensure the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and has completed all required training.
  • Spend the majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience.
  • At least one year of management experience.
  • Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service, and product flow is helpful.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with team members.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decision-making.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques.
  • Commitment to practicing safety at all times.
  • Ability to mentor team members across various roles.
  • Successful completion of all required certifications.
