Job Responsibilities:
  • Plans, directs, and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations within various departments of the store.
  • Serves as a mentor and coach for all team members.
  • Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and ensure customer needs are met with quick and efficient service.
  • Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
What You'll be Doing:
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Responsible for staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs, and being involved in promotion decisions.
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
  • Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain department shrinkage.
  • Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain standards.
  • Ensure team members are thoroughly trained and have completed all required training.
  • Spend the majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience.
  • One year of management experience.
  • Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service, and product flow is helpful.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with team members.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling.
  • Commitment to practicing safe work habits at all times.
  • Ability to mentor team members across organizational levels.
  • Successful completion of required certifications.
