Job summary

Rosauers Supermarkets Inc in Hood River, OR seeks a General Merchandise team member to maintain store appearance, replenish stock, and manage inventory while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include ordering merchandise, analyzing sales, coordinating with vendors, training staff, and ensuring compliance with procedures. Must be 18+, with at least 1 year in general merchandise; lifting up to 40 pounds. Weekly pay and comprehensive benefits package offered.

• Order general merchandise from approved suppliers and manage vendor communications.
• Support strategies to drive store sales with a customer-centric approach.
• Adjust schedules, tasks and priorities to meet business needs.
• Review department records and adjust to meet budget objectives.
• Analyze daily and weekly sales and suggest product movement across channels.
• Audit operations to ensure adherence to standard procedures.
• Assist customers in locating products and provide excellent service.
• Instruct and train staff; conduct performance evaluations.
• Check recalls; remove products and return as directed.
• Verify billing and paperwork; document deliveries and report discrepancies.
• Develop merchandising displays; hang price tags and face products.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What'You'll Do

• Maintain store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure the store is always guest ready through effective replenishment.
• Order general merchandise from approved suppliers. Communicate with vendors and select items for order.
• Support strategies and processes to drive store sales and deliver results through a customer centric mindset.
• Readily adjust schedule, tasks, and priorities when necessary to meet business needs.
• Review department operating record and make adjustments to meet budget objectives.
• Analyze daily/weekly sales reports and propose product movement and rotation, including between onsite and online channels.
• Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
• Assist customers with locating product; listen to customer comments and provide an excellent customer experience.
• Instruct and train department employees in their responsibilities; complete employee performance evaluations.
• Check on recalls; remove product and return as directed.
• Verify billing and paperwork. Record delivery of merchandise, compare records with merchandise order, and report discrepancies to control costs and maintain correct inventory levels.
• Develop display techniques for effective merchandising. Hang price tags and face product.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position is eligible for a semi-annual bonus from 0 - 20% of base wages considering company performance and position goals met.

Note: Benefit eligibility may vary based on role, length of service, store location, hours worked, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Education & Experience

• Previous minimum of one-year experience in a general merchandise department.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 40 pounds at times.
