Job summary

Target is seeking a General Merchandise Expert to help create a welcoming guest experience and keep merchandise available and easy to shop. You will greet guests, assist them in finding products, and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.

The role requires strong guest service, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to busy, physical store environments. Training is provided, with opportunities to handle restocking, sign upkeep, and basic in-store operations.

Qualifications

• Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments: Greet 10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave; 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
• Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
• Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, merchandise set up and maintenance, pricing activities, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures
• Learn and execute operational procedures such as setting and organizing merchandise, managing product accuracy and stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas
• Follow all Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role-specific guidelines, and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties
• All other duties based on business needs.
