Advocate Health is seeking a Unit Secretary for the 9 Ardmore East General Medicine unit in Winston-Salem, NC. The role supports the nursing unit with clerical tasks, scheduling, admissions and communications.

Evening shift, full-time status, 36 hours per week, with every-other-weekend coverage and benefits eligible. The unit specializes in respiratory care with telemetry, serving a mix of medical and surgical patients.

Qualifications

Basic clerical and computer skills are required.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
Ability to handle changing workloads and competing demands.
Ability to develop transcription skills as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform clerical duties for patient scheduling, admissions, procedures, transfers, and discharges.
Screen and route incoming calls and messages to the appropriate staff.
Maintain a safe, confidential environment and ensure accurate communications.
Process requisitions and nursing communications forms in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively with the team, patients and families.
Demonstrate initiative for professional growth and organization.
Work quietly and efficiently, coping with stress and interruptions.
Support unit duties and assist other staff when time permits.
Provide age/developmentally appropriate care as directed.
Assist with patient care-related tasks as defined by nursing staff.
