Growing company in the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas area has an outstanding opportunity available for a General Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role for a 30-40-press injection molding facility serving automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers. The GM holds full P&L accountability and must combine deep technical fluency in injection molding with mastery of IATF 16949 quality systems and the commercial acumen to manage resin cost volatility, customer scorecards, and plant profitability. This is not a purely administrative role—the successful candidate must be comfortable on the shop floor troubleshooting process issues and leading customer audits.
- Own the plant P&L, including annual budgeting, capital expenditure (CapEx) planning, and cost-control strategy.
- Monitor the impact of resin price volatility (driven by oil markets and tariff exposure) on gross margin; drive countermeasures through formulation optimization, process improvement, and supplier negotiation.
Lead cost-down initiatives with quantified targets for scrap rate, cycle time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Ensure strict compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001; lead the plant through OEM and Tier 1 customer audits (including VDA 6.3 process audits).
- Serve as the primary quality escalation point, owning 8D reports and driving root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions using SPC, MSA, and FMEA.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) for lightweighting and EV-related programs; ensure PPAP submissions are completed and approved on schedule.
- Manage customer scorecards (PPM, delivery, warranty) and maintain direct relationships with key OEM/Tier 1 supplier quality and purchasing contacts.
- Direct scheduling and maintenance for 30-40 medium-to-large tonnage presses drive SMED to reduce changeover time and improve OEE.
- Enforce Scientific Molding discipline; resolve complex processing challenges with engineering-grade resins , including mold venting, cooling optimization, and defect elimination.
- Oversee mold management: preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, mold life tracking, and coordination of external mold repair and modification to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Industry experience: 8+ years in plastics injection molding, with at least 3-5 years in a plant manager, operations manager, or GM role within automotive components. Direct experience supplying U.S.-based OEMs (GM, Ford, Stellantis, or Japanese/German transplant factories) strongly preferred.
- Technical depth: Proficient in injection molding process development (parameter optimization, scientific molding) and mold structure/troubleshooting.
- Systems knowledge: Deep familiarity with IATF 16949 core tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) and a track record of successfully navigating demanding OEM audits.
- Financial literacy: Ability to read financial statements。
