Job summary

Knife River Northwest is seeking a Ready-Mix General Manager to lead our Metro and Willamette Valley divisions, overseeing operations, safety, quality and profitability. You will direct concrete production, fleet, maintenance and related services to meet customer needs and business goals.

The role requires strategic leadership, strong communication, and a track record of managing budgets and teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and management experience in construction materials or concrete industries.
• P&L management experience and financial performance responsibility.
• Experience managing concrete production, fleet operations, and maintenance programs.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Self-motivated with collaborative management style and development focus.
• Ability to complete pre-employment background checks and drug screening.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including MSHA, OSHA, EPA and environmental rules.
• Manage capital improvement projects including budgeting, planning, execution and ROI analysis.
• Lead and develop operations, sales and support teams to hit safety, service, quality and profitability goals.
• Research, evaluate and implement innovative products, technologies and processes to improve safety, efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate, navigating high-pressure situations and building positive relationships.
• Evaluate and resolve operational challenges related to materials, production, quality, equipment and customer service.
• Manage employee relations professionally while supporting workforce engagement and retention.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Ready-Mix operations, fleet, maintenance, and concrete production activities.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and environmental requirements.
• Manage capital improvement projects, including budgeting, planning, execution, and return-on-investment analysis.
• Lead and develop operations, sales, and support teams to achieve safety, service, quality, and profitability objectives in our Metro and Willamette Valley Divisions.
• Research, evaluate, and implement innovative products, technologies, and processes that improve safety, operational efficiency, and reduce environmental impact, including carbon reduction initiatives.
• Effective communicator and collaborative leader, capable of navigating high-pressure situations while fostering positive working relationships.
• Evaluate and resolve operational challenges related to materials, production, quality, equipment performance, and customer service.
• Manage employee relations matters professionally and effectively while supporting workforce engagement and retention.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven leadership and management experience in construction materials, ready mix concrete, aggregates, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated responsibility for profit and loss (P&L) management and financial performance.
• Experience managing concrete production, fleet operations, and equipment maintenance programs.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
• Self-motivated leader with a collaborative management style and a commitment to developing people.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, physical/functional assessment, and drug screening.
• Commitment to maintaining a professional, respectful, and customer-focused work environment.
