Job description

General Manager – Multi-Brand Home & Commercial Services – TM

Location: Stafford-Richmond–South Boston, VA corridor — corridor-based with regional travel across brand markets

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Type: Full-time, exempt

Compensation: $120K–$150K base + performance-based profit incentive + benefits

Who We Are

We're a fast-growing operating platform building a family of trusted mechanical & infrastructure trades (i.e. HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.) across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. We acquire established, well-run trades businesses and make them better — sharper pricing, tighter operations, stronger teams, and the kind of customer experience that earns five-star reviews and repeat business.

We're scaling quickly. We need an operator who can run the engine while leadership focuses on growth.

The Opportunity

This is the #2 operating seat in the company — the person who runs the day-to-day across all of our brands and keeps every one of them healthy and profitable. You'll own the operational results so the CEO can stay focused on acquiring and integrating new businesses.

This is not a desk job and it's not a figurehead title. We're looking for a hands‑on, numbers‑fluent trades operator who has actually run service businesses, knows what a healthy gross margin feels like, and can walk into any of our shops and immediately see what's working and what isn't.

If you've topped out as a service manager, operations manager, or single-location GM and you're hungry for a bigger canvas — multiple brands, multiple markets, real P&L authority, and a clear path to grow with the company — this is your seat.

What You'll Own

Profitability & P&L

- Own the operating P&L across all brands; protect and grow gross margin on every job

- Drive pricing discipline and pricebook adherence so we hit our margin floor on every ticket

- Review job costing, labor efficiency, and call‑conversion weekly — and act on what the numbers tell you

- Build the budget‑vs‑actual rhythm that keeps every brand on plan

Multi-Brand Operations

- Run daily and weekly operations across the portfolio of plumbing and HVAC brands

- Lead the brand-level Office Managers — set the standard, hold the accountability, remove the obstacles

- Keep dispatch, scheduling, call‑booking, and field execution humming in every market

- Standardize what should be standard; respect what makes each brand local

People & Field Leadership

- Lead, manage, and hold accountable the people who run our shops, including the operational‑standards and integration function that drives consistency across every brand

- Coach toward a consistent, high‑trust field experience (on‑time, communicative, clean, honest)

- Partner on recruiting, onboarding, and developing technicians, CSRs, and dispatchers

- Support our veteran‑hiring and apprenticeship pipelines as a source of talent

Systems & Standards

- Assist Director of Operational Standards and Integration to drive adoption and proper use of ServiceTitan across all brands (job costing, pricebook, workflows)

- Run the weekly operating cadence (Level 10–style meetings, scorecards, priorities) on our management platform

- Turn data into decisions — and make sure the team is actually using the tools we pay for

Acquisition Integration

- Be the operational lead when we acquire a new business: stabilize it, plug it into our systems, and lift its margins from day one

- Partner with leadership on a clean, fast, low‑friction integration playbook

Note on scope:

This role is operations‑and profitability‑focused. You’ll “partner” with leadership on insurance, licensing, and federal/secured‑facility compliance — you won’t be expected to own those lanes.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 90 days, you will have:

- Built a clearer picture of each brand's true operating margin and the levers to improve it

- Established a working rhythm with every Office Manager and a weekly scorecard you trust

- Identified the top 3 profit leaks across the portfolio and started closing them

In your first 6 months, you will have:

- Every brand operating at or above our gross‑margin floor, consistently

- A repeatable operating standard that travels to the next acquisition

- A bench of brand‑level leaders who can run their shops without you in the room every day

What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

- 5+ years operating a residential/commercial trades business (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, sewer) as a service manager, operations manager, or GM

- Demonstrated P&L ownership — you've been responsible for margin, not just revenue, and you can prove it

- Hands‑on field credibility — you understand the trade well enough that techs respect you and customers trust you

- Strong with field‑service software (ServiceTitan strongly preferred) — job costing, pricebook, dispatch, reporting

- A real leader of people — you've managed managers, set standards, and held a team accountable without burning it down

- Fluent in the numbers — gross margin, labor efficiency, conversion rates, average ticket — these are second nature to you

- Comfortable with regional travel across multiple markets and a fast‑moving, acquisition‑driven environment

Bonus Points (Preferred, Not Required)

- Experience with Nexstar Network systems and best practices

- Familiarity with EOS/Traction/ScalingUp/Nexstar or some other proven business operating framework. This is the connection of strategy → priorities → meeting cadence → metrics → accountability so the company runs smoothly on a PROCESS rather than VP memory.

- Multi‑location or multi‑brand operating experience

- Experience integrating an acquired business

- Experience working with apprenticeship / veteran‑hiring programs

Why This Role

- Real authority and real ownership — you run the operations, full stop

- A growth story you're part of — we're acquiring, and you'll help build the playbook that scales

- Performance‑based upside — your compensation is tied to the profitability you create

- Equity‑based upside — become a part of the longer‑term vision

- Mission that matters — maintaining America, building skilled‑trades careers, and serving a myriad of communities

- Competitive base salary: $120,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience — calibrated to the Stafford‑Richmond–South Boston VA corridor, not metro DMV rates

- Profit‑based performance incentive tied to operating results

- 401(k)

- PTO

- Vehicle or vehicle allowance / phone
