Factor Search is assisting a leading metals recycler in South Florida to hire a General Manager for a busy scrap-metal yard. You will own the site P&L, set pricing, optimize margins, and drive performance across receiving, processing, and shipping while guiding a team of supervisors and shop staff.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep material knowledge and a track record of turning around operations. The position offers a competitive base with a bonus structure and rapid hiring.

Qualifications

General Manager – Scrap Metal Recycling Yard | South Florida | $140K–$160K + Bonus

I’m working with a leading metals recycler to find a General Manager for one of their South Florida yards. It’s a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of the site.

The opportunity

The yard is mainly non-ferrous and processes about 1.4 million lbs of non-ferrous and 1,000 gross tons of ferrous material each month. You’ll run the whole operation, including the P&L, and report to the Regional General Manager. Your job is to build a well-organized, high-performing site.

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of about 15. Your direct reports are the ferrous and non-ferrous supervisors, the office manager and the yard mechanic.
• Own the P&L: pricing, margins, costs and getting the most out of monthly volumes.
• Work closely with the buying team. You’re accountable for buying performance.
• Oversee receiving, sorting, grading, processing and shipping, with accurate inventory control.
• Keep equipment running and downtime low.
• Drive a strong safety culture and make sure the yard meets environmental and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll bring

• Proven management experience in a scrap metal recycling yard
• Strong knowledge of non-ferrous grades and ferrous grades
• Experience leading supervisors and blue-collar teams
• P&L responsibility or strong commercial understanding (a plus)

Package

$140,000–$160,000 base, plus bonus. The client is looking to move quickly.
