Restaurant General Manager – Job Purpose

The Restaurant General Manager provides leadership to ensure all team members are guest‑focused, team‑focused, and community‑connected. The role exercises knowledge of restaurant operations, manages staff resources, provides counsel, training, development and coaching to Assistant General Managers (if assigned), Department Managers, Restaurant Support Managers and Hourly Team Members. The goal is to build sales and profits while maintaining the operating standards of the Buffalo Wild Wings brand.

Specific Responsibilities
TEAM
  • Develop, implement and execute the overall business staff plan, ensuring proper staffing levels for each department to build sales.
  • Prepare the manager schedule to provide adequate coverage according to quality manager guidelines.
  • Oversee human resource functions, ensuring 100% compliance with all laws, policies and procedures.
  • Communicate employee benefits to all managers and hourly team members.
  • Provide performance feedback, recognition and regular one‑on‑ones to Assistant General Managers, Department Managers, Restaurant Support Managers and Hourly Team Members.
  • Hold all managers accountable for contributing to team and company objectives.
  • Create and maintain an open‑door policy, encouraging honest communication and appreciation for ideas.
  • Train and develop managers, with a focus on Department Managers and Managers in training.
  • Develop and deliver Individual Development Plans and performance improvement action plans for managers.
  • Ensure development plans for hourly team members are completed by Department Managers.
  • Conduct weekly manager meetings with written agendas and pre‑shift meetings.
  • Communicate effectively among all managers and team members, fostering professional relationships.
  • Maintain turnover and retention targets and lead recognition programs.
  • Model exemplary leadership behaviors, ensuring all managers follow these standards.
GUEST
  • Ensure all managers and team members are guest‑focused first, displaying hospitality skills consistently.
  • Respond to guest comments and criticism constructively and promptly.
  • Identify and implement techniques to attract new guests.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and local businesses.
  • Deliver superior Guest Experience Management (GEM) results through outstanding service and product quality.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels for optimal guest service.
  • Ensure all training standards are met for management and team members.
  • Deliver a WOW experience for every guest.
QUALITY OPERATIONS
  • Use compliance and feedback data (GEM, QSCs, SteriTech audits, mystery shop feedback) to improve performance.
  • Adhere to company‑specified systems, tools and shift procedures.
  • Follow Serve Safe Food, Responsible Alcohol Service (RAS) and HACCP standards.
  • Stay current on city, county, state and federal food and beverage laws.
  • Implement new programs, policies, procedures and promotional products.
  • Maintain high service and cleanliness standards.
  • Hold managers accountable for cleaning schedules.
  • Deliver the Buffalo Wild Wings experience through superior AV management and sports awareness.
SALES AND PROFITS
  • Develop and execute an effective local store marketing plan within budget.
  • Approve department schedules to ensure labor results and guest satisfaction.
  • Control utility costs and promote conservation.
  • Reconcile profit and loss statements, conduct analysis and report results.
  • Set daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sales goals and forecasts.
  • Hold effective business review meetings.
  • Meet or exceed profit goals, respond to trends, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Clarify sales and profit goals for managers and coach them to achieve bonuses.
  • Hold Department Managers accountable for P&L line‑item responsibility.
  • Grow sales through outstanding guest experience.
  • Follow safety and security policies, including loss prevention.
  • Use key financial tools (Aspect, Back Office, BQI, etc.) for control.
  • Teach managers to conduct Period Business Reviews and Weekly DM Summary.
  • Maintain unit condition and address repair and maintenance matters.
  • Implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High school education or equivalent, valid driver’s license, satisfactory background check and ability to meet physical demands.
  • Completion of Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program required.
