Job summary

Sports Facilities Management, LLC is seeking a General Manager for the Holland Civic Center Place in Holland, MI. This role leads financial and operational performance, drives profitability, and builds strong client and stakeholder relationships.

You will manage budgets, develop policies, and coordinate interdepartmental collaboration, while focusing on growth, staff development, and achieving annual objectives in a dynamic events venue setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business management, sports management, marketing, hospitality, food and beverage, related field, or equivalent experience preferred
• Proven experience with daily P&L management and budget oversight of $4MM or greater
• Experience in organizing, booking, and operating sports tournaments and events (basketball, volleyball, martial arts, wrestling, etc.)
• Business development and operational expertise in live entertainment, catered social events, corporate events, trade shows, and team-building events
• Experience working with convention and visitor bureaus, regional sports commissions, and/or regional event management booking

Responsibilities

• Analyze operations to evaluate performance and identify cost reduction, program improvement, or policy changes
• Appoint department heads or managers and delegate responsibilities
• Confer with ownership and advisors to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems
• Coordinate budgetary control systems, recordkeeping, and administrative control processes
• Direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations and increase efficiency
• Direct human resources activities, including approval of HR plans and staff hiring
• Implement policies and activities to maximize returns and productivity
• Prepare and present reports on activities, expenses, budgets and compliance
• Represent the organization at official functions and liaise with stakeholders
• Oversee site location selection and equipment/supplies provision
• Negotiate or approve contracts with suppliers and agencies
• Prepare budgets for programs and operations
• Review staff reports and recommend changes
• Schedule training seminars on operational, safety, and legal responsibilities
• Any additional duties assigned by VP of Venue Management
