Job summary

Instawork seeks a General Manager, Data Centers to scale the data center vertical from pilot to enterprise. You will drive strategy, build partnerships with contractors, operators, and hyperscalers, and expand footprint in key markets to accelerate the marketplace flywheel.

You will lead cross-functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations to move quickly, iterate on solutions, and ensure scalable, automated execution in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial construction (data center or equivalent) or data center operations experience.
• Experience scaling operations and partnerships across multiple markets.
• Ability to manage high-growth expansions and cross-functional initiatives.

Overview

Instawork is seeking a General Manager, Data Centers to accelerate and scale our rapidly growing presence in the data center industry. Working with Instawork’s leadership, this role drives strategy, captures market share, and optimizes execution in a fast-growing sector. You will scale the connection between our 10M+ flexible workers ("Pros") and the labor demands of data center builders, general contractors, operators, and hyperscalers to accelerate the marketplace flywheel in critical data center hubs.

What You’ll Do

• Scale the Playbook: Take our data center vertical from 1 to 10. Drive operational excellence—streamlining site-access and safety protocols, standardizing onboarding for large construction build-outs and hardware deployments, and expanding footprint in key markets until the vertical becomes a massive, self-sustaining engine.
• Strategic Execution & Partnership Expansion: Refine and implement Instawork’s growth strategy for the data center space. Cultivate, grow, and own relationships with top-tier general contractors, data center operators, colocation providers, and infrastructure tech giants; turn pilots into enterprise-wide deployments.
• Market & Data Needs Analysis: Understand labor, compliance, and safety requirements of active construction sites and live data center environments. Use data to anticipate partner pain points and ensure Instawork’s tech and operations support a fluctuating workforce throughout the facility lifecycle.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations to move quickly, iterating on the fly. Turn operational friction into scalable, automated processes and drive cross-functional alignment to unblock growth.
• Thought Leadership & Evangelism: Represent Instawork as a data center workforce thought leader. Present progress, growth metrics, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, shaping long-term infrastructure support.
• Own the Road: Expect extensive travel to major data center markets. Your office is wherever the next launch, partner expansion, or optimization takes you.

Who You Are

• Domain Expert & Relationship Builder: 4+ years in commercial construction (data center or mission-critical builds), data center operations, infrastructure scaling, or management consulting within tech/infrastructure. Understand the full lifecycle of a data center, from construction to ongoing facilities management.
• Scaling Mindset & Action: Deliver results in high-pressure environments; build systems that sustain hyper-growth.
• Strategic & Curious: Think big while grounded in data and execution; comfortable with fast iteration and solving unstructured problems in a rapidly evolving industry.
• Multi-disciplinary Executor: Proven track record of managing high-growth expansion, optimizing operations, and partnering across functions to deliver results.

For IL-based applicants

• The base salary for this position is $160,000 - $200,000
• This position is eligible for equity in the form of stock options
