Responsible primarily for the daily hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members, direct supervision of restaurant team members and delivery drivers (including authority to take corrective action up to and including employment separation), and supporting the daily operations of the restaurant. This role ensures the team delivers tasks with the highest quality and standards by being a self-sufficient leader, making quality decisions, and instilling pride and accountability in team members. Other responsibilities include managing shift operations and ensuring adherence to all company policies, procedures, programs, and systems.

Job Purpose:

This role primarily manages shift operations, hiring/firing, onboarding, training, development, corrective action, and performance management of restaurant team members and delivery drivers. These team members report directly to this position. It is assigned to high volume and/or high complexity restaurants and reports to the restaurant General Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality products to customers by building a system of quality with team members, ensuring each product meets Papa John’s standards and accurately reflects the customer’s order.
  • Communicate, train, and promote quality standards using all available tools including the Operations Manual and Team Member Handbook.
  • Ensure food safety certifications are up to date for all team members and manage the restaurant’s assets by maintaining cleanliness and safety/security standards.
  • Supervise work activities of all non-exempt restaurant team members, including shift leaders, in-store team members, and delivery drivers during assigned shifts.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, assume all restaurant functions to ensure high-quality products and customer service.
  • Recruit customer-focused team members, maintain adequate staffing levels, properly orient and train team members, and ensure compliance with uniform and appearance standards.
  • Document performance issues and take disciplinary actions when necessary, including termination.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering teamwork, energy, and fun.
  • Contribute to sales goals through prompt and friendly customer service and product training.
  • Execute shift-level financial controls and cash management responsibilities.
