Big C Lumber, a family-owned business with over a century in operation, seeks a General Manager to lead one retail location in Michigan. You will oversee daily store operations, drive sales, and foster a safe, customer-focused environment.

You’ll coach and develop the team, recruit top talent, manage merchandising and inventory, and coordinate with other locations to meet customer needs while upholding company policies. This role offers growth within a values-driven organization.

Big C Lumber is a family-owned company that has been serving customers and communities for over 100 years. We are looking for a motivated, customer-focused General Manager to lead one of our retail locations. This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations, developing employees, driving sales and profitability, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience while maintaining our commitment to safety.

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

• Five or more years of management experience, preferably in the building materials or lumber industry.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Customer-focused with outstanding problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of building materials and construction products.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand material takeoffs is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Schedule

• Typical hours are between 7:0 AM and 5:00 PM
• Occasional weekends and overnight travel as business needs require
• Store is open until noon on Saturdays during the summer
