Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Transit General Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction to an assigned operation location to ensure service delivery of a large fixed route service in the Greater LA region. This position will manage the service and oversee annual business plans. He/she will control the daily operation of our transportation contract, in compliance with the policies of the contracting agency and company procedures.

The ideal candidate is organized, can foster mutual trust, is process-oriented, has a can-do attitude, and possesses outstanding customer service skills. This position will be the primary client interface and will be responsible for the service delivery and operation of an innovative transit program.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure daily operations and service delivery are provided according to contract scope of service.
  • Manage client relationships and adherence to operating contract and MV policies and procedures.
  • Manage customer relations through direct contact and outreach programs.
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff.
  • Create a positive culture aligned with MV values, client mission, safety, and employee morale.
  • Communicate effectively with location staff and support team members.
  • Direct activities of subordinate employees including Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Training, Security, and Administrative staff.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance and fleet availability.
  • Coordinate safety and training programs to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Develop and oversee subcontractors ensuring operational effectiveness and compliance.
  • Ensure staff are trained and utilizing technology to improve service.
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conduct departmental audits for optimization and efficiency.
  • Review operational metrics regularly.
  • Manage financial metrics, report exceptions, and develop action plans.
  • Implement and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Handle invoicing and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in labor and employee relations activities.
  • Support location contract renewals with insights and information.
Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in a relevant field preferred, relevant experience considered.
  • Extensive management experience required.
  • At least five years as a general manager with a fleet of over 100 vehicles.
  • Eight years’ experience in transit operations, administration, and supervision. ZEB experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to grow and adapt quickly, providing high-quality innovative service.
  • Labor union negotiations and collective bargaining experience.
  • Planning and service design experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and DOT/FTA compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, analytical skills, strong communication, and multi-tasking skills.

Starting salary range: $150,000 - $190,000
