SERVPRO Team Shaw is one of the largest SERVPRO franchise organizations in the country, having grown from one location in 2020 to 33 locations today across three major markets. We have assisted over 5,000 customers with water and fire emergencies nationwide. We are a full turnkey provider for our customers, doing everything from water and fire emergency services, moving and storage of contents, and textile cleaning all the way to reconstruction. We were recently ranked the #69 fastest-growing private restoration/construction company in the country, and growth opportunities continue to arise across commercial large loss, fire damage restoration, asbestos and mold removal, and more.
POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager owns the full performance of the market — mitigation, reconstruction, and contents — with complete profit and loss responsibility. This role runs the business end to end: revenue growth, gross margin, labor, cost of goods sold (COGS), overhead, production scheduling, and performance management across Project Managers, Construction Managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field crews.
The ideal candidate is a business leader first and an operator second — someone who can read a P&L, find the margin, build the plan to fix it, and lead a team to execute. You will balance quality, speed, and profitability while coaching and developing the next generation of restoration and construction talent.
We're seeking a strong communicator with excellent analytical skills, sharp attention to detail, and a track record of holding a team accountable to results. Our idea of the ultimate candidate is proactive, experienced, financially disciplined, and truly enjoys developing people while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full P&L for the market — revenue, gross margin, COGS, overhead, and net operating income — and deliver against budget every month.
- Build and manage the annual operating budget and rolling forecasts; explain variances and drive corrective action plans.
- Monitor job costing, labor and material spend, subcontractor costs, equipment utilization, and margin performance by service line and by job.
- Manage working capital: accounts receivable, collections, WIP, over/under billings, and job close-out timelines.
- Approve purchases, subcontractor agreements, change orders, and capital requests within authority levels.
- Analyze financial and production reports and present performance updates, root-cause analysis, and improvement plans to executive leadership.
- Oversee all operations across water, fire, contents, and reconstruction service lines, ensuring jobs are executed safely, efficiently, and to SERVPRO and IICRC standards.
- Direct the construction/reconstruction division: estimating, scoping, permitting, subcontractor management, scheduling, quality control, punch list, and warranty work.
- Build and manage the subcontractor base — recruiting, vetting, insurance and licensing compliance, pricing agreements, and performance scorecards.
- Manage the handoff from mitigation to reconstruction to protect cycle time, margin, and the customer experience.
- Own labor across production and construction — staffing levels, crew assignments, and workload distribution across Project Managers, Construction Managers, crew chiefs, and technicians.
- Build and manage production and construction scheduling across all active jobs, balancing crew availability, subcontractor capacity, equipment, and customer timelines.
- Monitor job cycle time and work-in-progress (WIP) reports; identify and resolve bottlenecks on aging or at-risk jobs.
- Review and approve job files, scope documentation, and estimates (Xactimate/Xactanalysis) for accuracy, completeness, and margin.
- Oversee equipment, vehicle, and inventory needs across crews, coordinating with Facilities and Fleet as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, OSHA standards, building codes, licensing requirements, and SERVPRO job documentation systems (WorkCenter, DryBook) across all crews and subcontractors.
Leadership & Growth
- Drive performance management by setting KPIs for Project Managers, Construction Managers, and crews, conducting regular reviews, and holding teams accountable to financial, production, quality, and customer satisfaction targets.
- Lead training, coaching, and development, including IICRC certification pathways, construction skill development, and career progression planning.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain leadership and production staff as the market grows.
- Partner with sales, marketing, and claims teams to align production and construction capacity with the sales pipeline and customer commitments; support business development with key accounts, adjusters, and commercial clients.
- Drive growth across specialty service lines, including commercial large loss, fire damage restoration, asbestos/mold removal, and reconstruction.
- Resolve escalated customer, adjuster, and subcontractor issues, stepping in personally as needed to protect customer satisfaction and the company's reputation.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across every job site.
Compensation & Schedule
- Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus tied to P&L results, plus vehicle.
- Availability for overtime and on-call hours required during peak demand or emergency responses.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5–7+ years of experience in restoration, construction, or property services, including at least 3 years in a senior management or general management role.
- Demonstrated ownership of a P&L or business unit budget with accountability for revenue and margin results.
- Experience overseeing both restoration/mitigation and construction or reconstruction operations.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing managers, not just individual contributors.
- Working knowledge of production scheduling, job costing, estimating, and subcontractor management.
- Strong financial acumen — able to read and act on a P&L, WIP report, and job cost report.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency with job-tracking/production software and Microsoft Office/Excel.
- Ability to travel across assigned market locations as needed.
- Availability for on-call rotation, evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed during peak demand or emergency response.
Preferred
- IICRC certification(s) in Water Damage Restoration, Fire/Smoke Restoration, or related areas.
- Experience with SERVPRO job documentation systems (WorkCenter, DryBook, Xactimate/Xactanalysis).
- Experience with commercial large loss, fire, mold/asbestos, or reconstruction service lines.
- General contractor's license or experience operating under one.
- Multi-location or multi-market management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, or a related field.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. as needed for job site visits and inspections.
- Ability to travel to multiple job sites and locations regularly.
- Comfortable working in active construction and restoration environments, indoors and outdoors.
- Paid Time Off
- Sick Paid Time Off
- Matching 401(k)
- Competitive compensation
