Job summary

SA Recycling in Texas is seeking a General Manager to lead multiple departments including Commercial Sales, Safety, Environmental, Operations, and Transportation. You will drive profitability with P&L oversight and ensure compliance with labor laws while fostering a safety- and quality-focused culture.

The role requires a strong background in ferrous and nonferrous processing, leadership of a unionized workforce, and bilingual capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• NF processing and production experience required.
• 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in fast paced operations.
• Experience managing a unionized workforce preferred.
• Strong financial management skills with P&L responsibilities.
• Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mentality.
• Demonstrated leadership with ability to communicate with customers and suppliers and promote safety and quality.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate construction and efficient layout of the operation.
• Provide customer service to existing and new suppliers.
• Visit suppliers’ sites to view the scrap for sale.
• Ensure staff are trained and know duties and policies.
• Determine inventory levels and requirements with staff.
• Stay current with market trends and pricing.
• Lead daily tailgates, safety meetings, and management commitment meetings.
• Conduct safety conversations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform monthly safety inspections and lead incident investigations.
• Report and manage work-related injuries and safety metrics.
• Monitor equipment inspection records for productivity of assets.
• Manage P&L to ensure facility profitability.
• Supervise staff to ensure compliance with state and federal labor codes.
• Communicate with management, local officials, and the public.
• Maintain tidy, organized work areas and ensure regular attendance.
• Organize materials for efficient space usage and dispose of waste properly.
• Oversee cleanup and maintain hygienic conditions for the team.

You will be expected to achieve positive results in all departments, including Commercial Sales, Safety, Environmental, Operations, and Transportation. Ferrous and nonferrous processing experience are required in this position.

Responsibilities of a General Manager:

• Coordinate construction and coordinate efficient layout of the operation.

• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
