Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a General Manager for southern Texas to lead operations across Commercial Sales, Safety, Environmental, Operations, and Transportation. Ferrous and nonferrous processing experience is required. The role demands ownership of P&L, staff development, and supplier relations in a fast-paced environment.

The position emphasizes safety leadership, market awareness, and adherence to state and federal labor standards, with competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• NF processing and production experience required.
• 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in leading fast paced and diverse operations.
• Experience managing a unionized workforce preferred.
• Strong financial management skills/background with P&L responsibilities.
• Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mentality.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate construction and layout of the operation.
• Provide customer service to existing and new suppliers.
• Visit suppliers’ sites to view the scrap for sale.
• Train staff and ensure they are aware of duties and company policies.
• Determine inventory levels and requirements.
• Stay current with market trends and pricing.
• Lead daily tailgates, safety meetings, and Management Commitment meetings.
• Perform Safety Conversations with employees to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform monthly safety inspections.
• Lead incident and property damage investigations.
• Report and manage work-related injuries and safety measurements.
• Monitor equipment inspection records to ensure productivity of assets.
• Manage the P&L to ensure profitability of the facility.
• Supervise staff to ensure compliance with labor codes.
• Communicate with management, local officials, and the public.
• Keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Organize materials for efficient space utilization.
• Dispose of waste materials properly.
• Ensure cleanup is completed and maintain good hygiene.

Responsibilities of a General Manager

• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Keep work areas neat and orderly
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.

• Equipment & Tools: Office equipment, general tools, and training with mobile equipment

• Work Capacity: Lifting & carrying 35lb loads, head turning, bending.

• Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, typing
