Job Title: General Maintenance Worker

Department: Facility Operations and Maintenance

Location: 50002 - KJS El Centro BOS - El Centro, CA 92243

Salary Range: $23.50 - $23.50 Hourly

Job Summary

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and general knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors

Education and Experience

  • Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
  • Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken window panes preferred
  • Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor, or other craftsmen
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience in general maintenance or related technical roles
  • Good communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Must be able to communicate in English language
