Overview

General Maintenance Worker - FI & LOSS. Job Code: 2026:0101-049 Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD Full Time. The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks involving the general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of government buildings, premises, and varied equipment, and performs other duties consistent.

Responsibilities
  • Remove, install, and/or repair drywall. Replacement of insulation.
  • Remove, install, and/or repair doors, locks, and windows and associated components.
  • Remove, install, and/or repair floors (carpet, tile, laminate, vinyl plank, hardwood, etc.).
  • Remove, install, and/or repair faucets, P-Traps, and toilets. Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage.
  • Remove, install, and/or repair various building and/or infrastructure equipment.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
  • Fix potential or existing safety hazards to avoid community injury.
  • Replace light bulbs, broken/missing outlets, and stained/missing ceiling tiles.
  • Perform various woodworking and concrete patching tasks.
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs and handle basic hand and power tools.
  • Complete the daily execution of service order tickets/log.
  • Ensure safety of contractor personnel and both contractor and Government owned equipment.
  • Maintain records for accountability and to an audit standard.
  • Support excellence in customer service and deliver excellent service to internal and external customers; work collaboratively to build professional relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Identify safety concerns to Supervisor and required stakeholders (DOD, ARMY, OSHA, ANSI, other industry identifiers).
  • Assist in maintaining accurate files and provide documentation to Government Lead when requested.
  • Provide required monthly data to Supervisor for a monthly report/tracking matrix of related matters.
  • Ensure administrative functions/paperwork are in order relative to receipt documentation, work orders, or internal paperwork and are accomplished on time and in the required format.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite while performing or conducting job duties and be attentive to detail.
  • Support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the US ARMY.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of residential or commercial carpentry experience and a high school diploma/GED, and an active CLASS C Driver’s License.
  • OR Minimum of four (4) years of residential or commercial carpentry experience with a GED, high school diploma/GED, construction or trade certification, and an active CLASS C Driver’s License.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Primarily mobile; work environment consists of a combination of office setting, outdoor emergency response, building repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear PPE including respirators, dust masks, safety glasses, hard hats, coveralls, rubber boots and rubber gloves.

Terms Of Employment And Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, without special restrictions.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.

Rate Of Pay/Benefits

Hourly Rate: $23.26
