Job summary

Spring River Mental Health & Wellness, Inc. is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to keep SRMHW facilities in top condition. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting tasks, plan preventive maintenance, and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.

The role requires ability to lift heavy items, climb stairs, and work across multiple sites, with overtime as needed. Apply if you have a HS diploma and several years of building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance experience;

  • 3+ years of building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance preferred.
  • Background checks, drug screening, and driving record checks required.
  • Ability to relate well with the public, patients and staff.
  • Strict confidentiality of SRMHW operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain SRMHW buildings and grounds to ensure full use.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting work.
  • Plan and organize maintenance, inspections, and repairs with the team.
  • Travel between sites to inspect facilities and prioritize repairs.
  • Manage supplies, inventory, and equipment; load/unload materials.
  • Operate equipment safely and perform preventive maintenance on systems.
  • Oversee maintenance contracts and service work; process repair requests.
  • Assist with annual fire extinguisher inspections and emergency lighting tests.
  • Coordinate annual fire marshal inspections and corrective actions.
  • Support recycling efforts and vehicle maintenance.
  • Overtime when emergencies arise.
  • Grounds maintenance including landscaping.
  • Seasonal landscaping tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Pay starting from $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry 80 pounds, i.e., heavy boxes, supplies, etc.; ability to move heavy furniture and equipment
  • Requires being on feet for long periods of time; the ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Requires being on hands and knees for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes
  • Requires exposure to a variety of chemical cleaning agents, pest control agents and weed control agents, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain Spring River Mental Health & Wellness, Inc. (SRMHW) buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of SRMHW facilities.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting work to maintain SRMHW buildings.
  • Plan and organize maintenance, inspections, and repairs performed on buildings. Work in collaboration with maintenance team to improve buildings and grounds to meet SRMHW standards.
  • Ability to travel from site to site; inspect facilities, buildings and grounds for routine maintenance; prioritize repairs and renovations.
  • Requisition of building maintenance supplies, material and equipment; monitor inventory; load and unload supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Appropriately operate equipment, machinery, and maintain and repair tools as necessary and adhere to safety standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and the exterior and interior of buildings.
  • Assist in oversight of building maintenance contract and service work; process and contract out repair requests.
  • Assist as needed with the completion of monthly fire extinguisher checks, coordination and oversight of the annual fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Assist as needed with the completion and record keeping of monthly emergency light and generator testing in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with and provide an oversight of annual fire marshal inspections to include compliance with regulations and implementation of any necessary corrective action plans.
  • Assist in the agency’s recycling efforts by breaking down and disposing of materials at identified locations.
  • Complete safety checks of vehicles on a routine basis. Assure all periodic and necessary maintenance of company vehicles are conducted according to schedule such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc. to assure safety and upkeep of vehicle fleet. Ability to address and complete general maintenance/repair on site such as battery replacement, tire pressure, etc. Coordinate and provide for vehicle repair needs including submission of repair requests, gathering bids, and scheduling repair.
  • Ability to work overtime when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption of SRMHW activities.
  • Grounds maintenance at office locations to include lawn mowing, weed eating, blowers, trim shrubs, raking, debris removal and edge walkways.
  • Seasonal maintenance of landscaping to include pruning shrubs, trees, planting and watering as needed.
  • Seasonal clearing of sidewalks/entrances and spreading of ice melt in advance of business opening, when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Minimum of HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance with at least three (3) years of relevant experience preferred.
  • This position must pass background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record checks allowing for satisfactory driving record to allow insurability with insurance carrier.
  • Ability to relate well with the public, patients and staff.
  • Strict confidentiality of all matters concerning clients and SRMHW operations.
