Overview

CHENEGA MISSION OPERATION, LLC.

Broadview, IL

The General Maintenance Worker/Janitor will be responsible for maintenance/janitorial services and keeping the facility’s appearance and cleanliness to a high standard for visitors and building occupants.

Responsibilities

• Respond and complete all maintenance and cleaning requests immediately.
• Perform all basic preventative maintenance and repairs, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Clean and maintain interior spaces to ensure visitors' and staff's cleanliness and safety, including sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, sanitizing bathrooms, restocking disposables, and window cleaning. Restock restroom facilities and verify restroom conditions at the start and end of each shift.
• Correct deficiencies in the facility (e.g., supplies, cleanliness, and maintenance) within one hour of discovery.
• Provide and display appropriate, neat, and well-kept signs to indicate Danger, Hazardous Floors, etc., as applicable. Such signs shall be displayed in all areas where cleaning operations are in progress. Signs shall be removed when no longer needed.
• Building and grounds cleanliness; trash and debris collection, indoor and outdoor
• Assist with snow removal by clearing entrances and walkways.
• Collection of indoor/outdoor surface debris from maintenance bays, parking areas, sidewalks, and roadways (street, bay, parking, and walkway sweeping functions).
• Sweeping, mopping, lavatory cleaning (including walls, stalls, toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, light fixtures, windows, and window screens – all surfaces, fixtures, appliances, receptacles, containers, dispensers), disinfection, and floor buffing/waxing.
• Operate carpet cleaning machines to perform shampooing and/or bonnet cleaning.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in building maintenance, housing maintenance, knowledge of building plans and schematics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to obtain Homeland Security Tier II clearance/DHS
• Ability to understand, read, write, and speak fluent English
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic cleaning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, and painting skills.
• Knowledge of the use and maintenance of commercial cleaning equipment & appliances
• Knowledge of handling and safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous materials
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, operate and maintain the building at a superior level, creating an environment and atmosphere of excellence and graciousness.
• Ability to accomplish tasks to preclude damage or disfigurement of furniture, equipment, and building structures
• Ability to prioritize workload and delegate the appropriate work to meet the needs of the client/event.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
