Job summary

Piping Technology & Products (PT&P) in Houston, TX, is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to maintain facility buildings, equipment, and grounds. You will respond to maintenance requests, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with facility improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of general maintenance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environments.
  • Ability to read work orders, safety instructions, and basic technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and basic HVAC work
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, tools, and facility systems
  • Repair or replace fixtures, doors, lighting, flooring, and other facility components
  • Maintain shop equipment, tools, and maintenance supplies in good working order
  • Assist with facility modifications, equipment moves, and layout changes
  • Support compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed
  • Document completed work, inspections, and repairs

Position Summary

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of facility buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained manufacturing environment. This role supports day-to-day operations by addressing maintenance requests, conducting preventative maintenance, and assisting with facility improvements.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of general maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environment
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry systems
  • Ability to read work orders, safety instructions, and basic technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of safety practices in an industrial setting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Work Environment

Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule may include overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
