Job summary

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation seeks a General Maintenance Technician II to uphold safe, efficient plant operations across locations. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspect mechanical and electrical systems, and handle repairs on equipment and valves while coordinating with outside contractors.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2–4 years’ related experience, and a valid driver’s license; a Pool & Spa Operator Certificate within 1 year is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; vocational/technical training preferred.
  • 2–4 years of related experience; familiarity with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Driver's license required; Pool & Spa Operator Certificate within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operation of mechanical and plant equipment through preventive maintenance.
  • Inspect, repair and install valves and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and manage maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain CMMS records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Be on-call as needed and cover shifts during emergencies.

Job description

General Maintenance Technician II is a network wide position. Work location may vary based on organizational needs. Additionally, other duties may be assigned as needed such as (but not limited to):

JOB SUMMARY
  • Provides a safe and comfortable operating environment through the installation, repair and performing of preventive maintenance on equipment and utility systems.
  • Deliveries
  • Parts Pick-Up
  • Fleet Inspections
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • MAINTAINS OPERATION OF MECHANICAL AND PHYSICAL PLANT EQUIPMENT
    • By inspecting, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
    • By the installation, removal or repairing valves and related equipment.
    • By locating trouble on equipment and taking necessary action.
    • By performing assigned preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
    • By being able to view and understand the Building Automation Program.
    • By meeting with outside contractors as needed.
    • By researching and ordering supplies as needed.
  • MAINTAINS CONTINUITY OF MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS
    • By being able to assume the responsibilities of the Manager in the Manager's absence.
    • By being able to manage the Maintenance Department during emergency situations, including but not limited to snow emergencies and snow removal.
  • MAINTAINS REGULATORY DOCUMENTS
    • By obtaining documentation through outside vendors, preventative maintenance and other appropriate sources.
    • By following standards and practices outlined by Good Shepherd.
  • PROVIDES MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
    • By filling out work orders, job orders and other records in connection with work tasks.
  • MAINTAINS CMMS SYSTEM
    • By viewing, closing and updating preventative maintenance and work order requests.
  • MAINTAINS TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
    • By attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and participating in the quality improvement educational process.
  • MAINTAINS SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • By complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • MAINTAINS CONTINUITY BETWEEN SHIFTS
    • By keeping supervisor informed of concerns and needs.
    • By being on-call on scheduled weeks.
    • By working unsupervised on scheduled weekends and scheduled holidays.
  • CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
    • By accomplishing related results as needed.
    • By working together by covering for absent associates and helping in other areas when needed.
    • By filling in for transportation as needed.
    • By assisting with the completion of General Maintenance Technician I duties.
    • By assisting with the training and education of General Maintenance Technician I.
