Job description

General Maintenance Technician III

The General Maintenance Technician III is responsible for maintaining the company’s buildings, facilities, and equipment in an operating and functional condition. Duties may include any of the following: electrical repairs or installations, fleet repairs, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting and plastering, masonry, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning or HVAC and sheet metal).

Compensation & Benefits
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $24.00 - $34.00 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity.
  2. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  3. Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines the nature of the problem, and recommends appropriate solutions.
  4. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of a group of employees.
  5. Leads and directs by assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work.
  6. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
  7. Coordinates work with outside contractors.
  8. Assures code and building standards are met.
  9. Performs repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
  10. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility systems.
  11. Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.
  12. Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc).
  13. Assists in the movement of furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
  14. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  15. Works with or oversees subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.

Additional Information:

  1. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  2. This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
  3. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  4. This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
  2. Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  3. Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
  4. Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
  5. Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
  6. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  7. Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and other storage locations.
  8. Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  1. Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  2. Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  3. Familiarity with facilities equipment descriptors such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  4. Experience working in purchasing or subcontracting in a manufacturing, maintenance, or a related service field.
  5. Experience with CMMS.
  6. Experience overseeing storeroom operations.
  7. Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.

Other Attributes:

  1. Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  2. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
  3. Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. High School graduate or demonstrated equivalent.
  2. 3 years of experience in area of specialization.
