Job summary

Londonderry Village in Palmyra, PA, is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to join a vibrant campus. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on key systems, inspect buildings, and respond quickly to resident requests, supporting safety and comfort across the campus.

The role requires hands-on skills in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, with a focus on teamwork, safety, and reliability. On-site duties include seasonal readiness and on-call rotations to keep the community

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking English.
  • Versatility across carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
  • Commitment to safety and PPE usage.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Critical Systems: preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and communications.
  • Conduct Thorough Inspections: inspect buildings and equipment and perform timely repairs.
  • Respond with Urgency: address work orders and resident requests promptly.
  • Support Small-Scale Projects: assist with light carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
  • Organize Supplies & Equipment: store and maintain tools and materials safely.
  • Contribute to Seasonal Readiness: assist with snow removal and staff transport during weather events.
  • Work Safely, Always: follow safety protocols and Londonderry Village policies.
  • Adhere to Standards: ensure compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
  • Be a Team Player: participate in on-call and weekend rotations as needed.
  • Take Initiative: perform other duties to support department goals.

Whether it’s troubleshooting an unexpected issue or keeping preventive maintenance on schedule, your work helps power a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for everyone on campus.Your responsibilities will include:Maintain Critical Systems: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on key systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and communication networks.Conduct Thorough Inspections: Routinely inspect buildings and equipment using established checklists and perform timely repairs as needed.Respond with Urgency: Address system-generated work orders and resident requests promptly, prioritizing issues related to safety and comfort.Support Small-Scale Projects: Assist with light carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work as assigned to keep the campus running smoothly.Organize Supplies & Equipment: Help ensure tools and materials are properly stored and maintained for efficiency and safety.Contribute to Seasonal Readiness: Perform snow removal duties and assist with staff transport during inclement weather.Work Safely, Always: Follow all safety protocols and complete tasks in a safe, compliant, and responsible manner.Adhere to Standards: Ensure all work meets regulatory guidelines and Londonderry Village policies and procedures.Report Concerns Promptly: Notify the Maintenance Director of any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or situations requiring specialized attention.Be a Team Player: Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as assigned, providing critical support when needed.Take Initiative: Willingly perform other duties as assigned to support the broader goals of the department.What You Bring to the TableValid PA Driver’s LicenseHands-On Maintenance Experience: Minimum of one year of general maintenance experience preferred – you’re comfortable handling tools and tackling routine repairs.Clear Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure smooth collaboration with team members and residents.English Proficiency: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is essential for safety, documentation, and clear instruction.Multi-Skilled Know-How: Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing – you bring versatility to every job you take on.Safety-Focused: Strict adherence to universal precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, is required due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.Ability to Complete Essential Functions: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and complete the physical components of the position, including walking/standing for the majority of your shift.
