Job Description - General Maintenance Technician (3315621)

Title: General Maintenance Technician HR ID# : 01-8061-963

Shift: 2nd Shift 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

General Summary: Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other campus buildings. Responds to routine service requests. Functions as maintenance shift coverage during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions:

• Monitors, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, resets, and repairs equipment, machinery, and systems supporting the hospital and campus buildings, including but not limited to machine rooms, HVAC, fire alarm systems, medical gas systems, locks, hardware, Nurse Call System, and Tube System.
• Performs plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains, replacing faucet washers, and toilet repairs.
• Performs electrical work such as changing fuses, resetting circuit breakers, and replacing light bulbs (licensed electricians perform other electrical work).
• Repairs hospital equipment and furniture.
• Replaces ceiling and floor tiles and makes minor carpet repairs as needed.
• Documents all work requests and completed work on shift logs.
• Performs shift readings and processes documentation accordingly.
• Responds to emergency codes and building system alarms.
• Responds to service requests via work order system, Voalte, or direct paging.
• Acknowledges and silences fire alarms, HVAC, and generator system failures.
• Assists other trades as required.
• If designated, signs waste manifests and attends Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) and DOT training as required by law. Completes annual hospital online training through the Healthcare Learning Center (HLC).
• Submits log sheets and work orders each shift as backup documentation.
