Job summary

River Terrace Inn, located along Napa River, seeks an Engineering & Maintenance professional to perform routine upkeep, troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical and building systems, and manage work orders with a focus on safety and guest satisfaction.

You will support the Chief Engineer, supervise maintenance staff when needed, and ensure guest rooms and public areas are well maintained while providing courteous, responsive service to guests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years facilities maintenance or hotel engineering experience.
• Working knowledge HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting & drywall.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs hotel-wide (guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, exterior grounds).
• Troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, painting, carpentry and building systems.
• Complete preventative maintenance per schedules and brand standards.
• Respond to maintenance requests and guest service calls promptly.
• Inspect facilities regularly and identify repairs; maintain tools and work areas.
• Lead in the Chief Engineer's absence and supervise maintenance staff as needed.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors and ensure life-safety systems remain operational.

Inviting rooms and suites with calming river views and warm fireplaces welcome guests back after days spent exploring the Valley. The Inn provides Napa visitors with accommodations that feel like home while staying true to Wine Country’s chic, boutique aesthetic Our restaurant ALBA Bar & Cafe is open daily for breakfast, and small bites in the evening at the Bar. We also have (3) private rooms for banquets & catered events.

This position assists the Director of Engineering to keep all equipment in good repair with minimum downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel. Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures. Continually work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to guests, other departments, and staff.

Engineering & Maintenance Operations

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, painting, carpentry, and general building systems.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to departmental schedules and brand standards.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest service calls.
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and identify necessary repairs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with applicable safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Flexibility on scheduling: weekends, weekdays and holidays based on business needs

Additional Responsibility includes Leadership & Department Support

• Serve as the primary backup to the Chief Engineer.
• Assist with daily department planning and prioritization of maintenance activities.
• Provide direction and support to maintenance staff as needed.
• Monitor work order completion and ensure timely follow-up.
• Communicate facility issues and operational concerns to hotel leadership.
• Assist in training new maintenance team members on departmental standards and procedures.

Acting Department Manager Responsibilities

When the Chief Engineer is off-property, unavailable, on vacation, or otherwise unable to perform departmental duties, this position will:

• Assume leadership responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
• Prioritize and assign daily work orders.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and facility responses.
• Serve as the primary engineering contact for hotel leadership.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
• Ensure all life-safety systems remain operational.
• Communicate major maintenance issues and operational impacts to hotel management.
• Maintain departmental productivity and service levels.

Guest Service Responsibilities

• Interact professionally and courteously with guests at all times.
• Respond quickly and effectively to guest maintenance concerns.
• Maintain guest privacy and confidentiality while working in occupied rooms.
• Support the hotel’s commitment to exceptional hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Pay:

$22 per h/r plus tips
