Job summary

The Baldwin School is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across its campus. The role involves painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and grounds upkeep to sustain a safe learning environment.

The position requires basic mechanical skills, ability to follow instructions, and a valid PA driver’s license. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; to perform basic math calculations and work efficiently without direct supervision.
• Familiar with or willing to learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a positive customer service approach.
• Able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
• Work inside and outside; exposure to varying environmental conditions.
• Able to stand for extended periods and climb a ladder; valid PA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participate in facility preventative maintenance programs.
• Maintain confidentiality and rights of students, families, employees, and facility information in compliance with policies.

• Perform duties in compliance with applicable laws and facility policies.

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of school buildings and campus grounds to maintain a safe, well-maintained environment for students, residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance tasks such as painting, light carpentry, drywall repair, basic plumbing, electrical work, and grounds maintenance
• Participate in facility preventative maintenance programs
• Accountable for and abides by the standards set forth in The Baldwin School Employee Handbook
• Maintains confidentiality and rights of student, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with policies and applicable regulations
• Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe workplace best practices
• Interacts positively and cooperatively with students, families, visitors and other staff
• Performs all duties in compliance with all applicable Federal and State rules and regulations and facility policies and procedures
• Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner and willingly performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications Include:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• The ability to follow verbal and written instructions; to perform basic math calculations and to work efficiently without direct supervision
• Familiar with or willing to learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Interested candidates must possess a general mechanical aptitude and a positive customer service approach
• An individual in this position will be required to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs
• Maintenance Team Members work inside and outside and are exposed to varying environmental conditions
• The ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb a ladder is necessary
• A valid PA driver's license and the ability to operate all School vehicles and equipment

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• A journeyman's license in plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, or other trade is a plus
• 2-4 years of relevant maintenance, laborer, or related experience
• Experience with small project management and coordination
