Job summary

TDL Staffing is seeking a dependable General Maintenance Technician to support military housing at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, AK. This full-time role requires hands-on multi-trade skills and a commitment to quality workmanship on safety-critical facilities.

You'll perform service requests across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring and appliances, keep up with work orders, and help ensure homes are safe, functional and move-in ready.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience in maintenance or trades.
• Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring or appliance repair.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to gain access to Fort Wainwright (REAL ID required).
• Proficiency with basic hand tools and web-based applications.
• Background screening and drug-free workplace requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests and change-of-occupancy maintenance.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs across trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring, drywall, doors, windows and appliances.
• Install and connect household appliances (stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.).
• Transport equipment, materials, furnishings and appliances to job sites.
• Repair and fabricate window/door screens and frames.
• Remove and replace damaged flooring, drywall and other building materials.
• Respond to on-call after-hours emergency and urgent maintenance requests.
• Complete paperwork, work orders and repair documentation using company devices.
• Maintain assigned work vehicle, tools and inventory.
• Provide professional customer service to residents, coworkers, contractors and the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete service requests, change-of-occupancy maintenance, and other property maintenance assignments.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring, drywall, doors, windows, and appliances.
• Install and connect household appliances, including stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other gas and electric appliances.
• Transport equipment, materials, furnishings, and appliances to job sites.
• Repair and fabricate window and door screens and frames.
• Remove and replace damaged flooring, drywall, and other building materials as needed.
• Respond to on‑call after‑hours emergency and urgent maintenance requests.
• Complete and submit required paperwork, work orders, and repair documentation using company‑provided mobile devices.
• Maintain your assigned work vehicle, tools, and inventory.
• Provide professional customer service while working with residents, coworkers, contractors, and the public.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to gain access to Fort Wainwright (REAL ID required)
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, or appliance repair
• Ability to provide basic hand tools for daily work
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with web‑based applications
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and complete required documentation
• Vocational or technical training is a plus
• Background screening is part of the hiring process
• Must support a drug‑free work environment
