Arizona State University (ASU) Tempe campus is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance in the residence halls, handling electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC tasks. The role may require work at other campus locations based on program needs, with a Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm schedule and a focus on safety and reliability.
The position emphasizes hands-on maintenance, teamwork, and effective communication with students and staff, while offering comprehensive benefits
Qualifications
- Must have two years of general maintenance and repair experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience with work order systems (TMA) and routine maintenance across electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work in a team.
Responsibilities
- Electrical maintenance: lighting, ballasts, switches, outlets, troubleshooting with meters, replacing GFCIs.
- Plumbing maintenance: repair/restoration of restrooms, kitchens, fixtures, and drain clearing.
- Carpentry maintenance: door hardware, flooring, ceiling tiles, drywall touch-ups.
- HVAC maintenance: replace filters, clean coils, thermostats and sensors.
- General duties: logs, teamwork, and interacting with students and customers.

High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Serves as a certified trades worker in an area of specialty to ensure proper installation, modification, and repair of related systems.
Facilities Management, Residential Facilities, seeks a General Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance work in the residence halls.
This position is based on the ASU Tempe campus however may require working at other campus locations based on program need.
This position will remain open until filled.
- Maintain and repair lighting, ballast, lighting switches, and receptacles, sockets, tombstones, and diffusers including 277 Volt lighting.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting utilizing multi-meters/volt detectors and circuit tracers.
- Replace damaged or worn outlets including ground fault circuit interrupters.
- Provide plumbing repair and maintenance of restrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, drinking fountains, etc.
- Maintain and re-build water closet flushometers, urinal flushometers, and multiple types and brands of faucets and under sink supplies.
- Clear all types of drain clogs and stoppages.
- Maintain public restroom toilet and urinal partitions and replacement of related hardware of partitions.
- Maintain and adjust auto door closers.
- Provide interior and exterior door preventative maintenance and replacement of door hardware such as flush bolts, push/pull handles, kick plates, door strikes, hinges, closers, weather stripping, smoke seals, door sweeps.
- Repair and replacement of several diverse types of flooring.
- Maintain and replace damaged suspended ceiling systems and ceiling tiles.
- Perform small drywall repairs, including paint touch-up of drywall repairs.
- Replace air filters.
- Clean coils with a coil comb along with flushing of the coils.
- Replace thermostats and sensors.
- Provide first response to elevator trouble calls and performing basic troubleshooting of elevator door problems.
- Provide swimming pool maintenance.
- Utilize various specific hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Maintain daily logs/records with the use of computers/tablets.
- Interact effectively with customers and students.
- Work within a team environment and contribute to team49 per ho goals.
- Use ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm
- Must have two years of general maintenance and repair experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience in:
