Aerotek is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic to perform detailed inventories of O&M equipment and facility assets at military installations in Washington, DC and Bethesda. • Must follow safety and security protocols on secure military installations.

• Experience using inventory management software to record and manage data.

Job Title: General Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This role focuses on conducting detailed physical inventories of operations and maintenance equipment and facility assets at military installations. You will identify, inspect, and document a wide range of building systems and equipment, using digital tools to maintain accurate records while working safely in diverse facility environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical inventories of operations and maintenance (O&M) equipment and facility assets at military installations.
• Identify, inspect, document, and catalog mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems equipment throughout assigned facilities.
• Record detailed asset information, including manufacturer, model number, serial number, condition, and physical location for each item.
• Use tablets, laptops, and inventory management software to input, update, and maintain accurate asset records.
• Travel between project locations as needed to complete inventory assignments across multiple facilities.
• Work safely in mechanical rooms, rooftops, utility spaces, crawl spaces, and occupied facilities, following all safety protocols.
• Access roofs, ladders, and confined spaces as required to locate and document equipment in hard-to-reach areas.
• Follow all military installation access and security requirements while working on-site in secure environments.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a maintenance technician.
• Strong ability to identify HVAC and building equipment within a facility, including electrical panels, fuses, exit signs, lights, wires, HVAC units, VAV boxes, generators, and similar components.
• Comfort working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, utility spaces, crawl spaces, and other non-office environments.
• Ability to travel between project locations in Washington, D.C. and Bethesda as required.
• Capability to climb ladders and access roofs and confined spaces safely.
• Attention to detail when inspecting, documenting, and cataloging equipment and assets.
• Ability to follow established access and security requirements in controlled facilities.

• Experience using tablets, laptops, and inventory management software to record and manage data.
• General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
