The City of Delray Beach is seeking a semi-skilled maintenance worker to support parks and facilities through cleaning, landscape upkeep, and general building and grounds care. The role operates basic equipment and requires following safety practices under supervision.

Shift: Wednesday to Sunday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Janitorial experience is recommended; heavy manual labor and outdoor work are routine. A valid Florida driver’s license with a good driving record is required.

• One-year experience doing heavy manual labor.

Semi-skilled manual work in either building, tree trimming operations, and/or ground maintenance activities. Work is performed under general supervision. Does related work as required. Routine manual work is responsible for the overall cleaning of parks and other building restrooms. Performs landscape maintenance, operates vehicles, mowers, and other related equipment. Performs other job-related duties as required. Performs general building maintenance and repairs. Performs safety inspections. Operates cleaning machines, buffer, vacuum cleaner, etc. Sets up chairs and tables for activities and assists in normal cleanup activities. Sweep, mop and scrub floors; wax and polish floors and furniture

• Knowledge of landscape maintenance, or tree care and/or turf installation.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor under adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to complete daily work sheets and/or keep records.
• Skill in operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and tools related to the position.
• Knowledge of building and/or grounds maintenance.
• Physical condition, strength and agility commensurate with the demands of the position, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
• Maintains buildings, cleans, scrapes, paints and performs litter control functions as required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Knowledge of routine manual work in the cleaning and upkeep of facilities. Knowledge of landscaping and turf maintenance. Ability to perform heavy manual labor under adverse weather conditions, follow written and oral instructions and complete daily worksheets and/or keep records. Skill in operation of equipment and tools related to the position.

Works outside in various weather conditions with dust and dirt., chemicals (insecticides and herbicides). Works in bucket trucks.
