Job summary

Thousand Hills Hospitality is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the restaurant and gift shop at Thousand Hills State Park in Kirksville, MO. You will diagnose and repair minor issues across plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and building systems, perform preventive maintenance, and help keep grounds and public areas clean and safe while delivering friendly customer service.

Experience in facility maintenance, OSHA safety knowledge, and a valid driver’s license are preferred; ability to work day,

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosing and repairing minor problems in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical systems, flooring, masonry and painting
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment in a safe and timely manner
• Organize and prioritize service requests and maintenance tasks
• Keep grounds neat and well-maintained using mowers, trimmers and related equipment safely
• Maintain customer service standards and respond promptly to requests/complaints
• Inspect grounds and buildings to identify maintenance needs
• Ensure public areas, especially restrooms, are clean and stocked
• Promote a positive team-oriented work environment

Job description

Thousand Hills State Park features Forest Lake, a 573-acre reservoir created by the damming of Big Creek and serves as a fresh water supply to the population of Kirksville, Missouri. This site provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, fishing, boating and water skiing. Thousand Hills Hospitality will offer a retail gift shop, full-service restaurant, cabin style lodging as well as boat and slip rentals. Summary of Position

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings and grounds, including the restaurant, and gift shop.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the diagnosis and repair of minor problems in a variety of areas such as plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, masonry, painting, etc.
• Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment in a safe and timely manner
• Assist with organizing and prioritizing service requests and general maintenance tasks
• Ensure that grounds are always neat and well-maintained handling mowers, trimmers and other appliances in a safe and effective manner
• Maintain customer service standards responding to all requests/complaints to minimize/solve problems in a timely and safe manner
• Regularly inspect the business grounds and buildings to identify maintenance needs
• Ensure that all public areas, specifically the restrooms, are always properly sanitized and cleaned while maintaining adequate stocking levels of required supplies
• Actively participate in creating a positive work environment promoting team work

Position Requirements

• Possess a wide range of maintenance skills and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to carry out a wide range of repairs with excellent quality
• Provide excellent customer service and people skills
• Possess a valid drivers license
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, holiday shift
• Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast-paced environment. Position involves frequent bending, twisting, squatting and lifting up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Education and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience: Two years of facility maintenance experience

Knowledge of safe work practices (OSHA)
