ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Located along King Harbor in Redondo Beach, The Redondo Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton offers a relaxed coastal stay with marina views and easy access to the South Bay’s beaches, restaurants, and waterfront attractions. The 112-room hotel features beach-inspired accommodations, Azul Café & Bar, a heated pool and spa, complimentary Wi-Fi, bike rentals, and a rooftop patio overlooking the marina. THE ROLE
As a General Maintenance Engineer II, you’ll be a key member of the hotel’s Engineering team, handling day-to-day maintenance needs with a high level of independence and technical knowledge. You’ll troubleshoot and repair a wide range of hotel systems, keep preventative maintenance on track, and help ensure the property is safe, comfortable, and operating at its best. You will:
- Respond to and resolve guest and team member maintenance requests promptly and professionally, often with little to no supervision
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Troubleshoot and repair hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and equipment
- Apply working knowledge of HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, tools, and equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection
- Identify and operate equipment and building shut-off valves when needed
- Perform basic PVC and copper pipe repairs, including soldering
- Safely use hand and power tools, chemicals, paints, and other materials required for maintenance work
- Assist with painting, drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and other general property repairs
- Program televisions and assist with other housekeeping and engineering-related needs
- Maintain engineering inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
- Use Lockout/Tagout procedures and follow all applicable safety standards
- Use engineering systems and computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other property systems
- Complete Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including property rounds and required readings
- Communicate maintenance activities, outstanding issues, and shift updates clearly to other Engineering team members
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers, including Engineer I team members
- Support the Regional Director of Engineering and Director of Facilities with lower-level capital improvement projects, including contractor coordination and project oversight
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering workspace and property
- Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to support an exceptional guest experience

You’re trusted to troubleshoot issues independently, communicate clearly, and keep preventative maintenance and daily engineering responsibilities on track. You’re also a resource for less experienced engineers and a dependable partner to hotel leadership on property improvements and projects.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, locks, and general building maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment and MEP systems with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance, safe tool and chemical use, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Strong problem‑solving, judgment, organization, and prioritization skills
- Comfortable using computers and engineering systems to document work and manage preventative maintenance
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced Engineering team members
- Strong communication skills and a professional, guest-focused approach
- Dependable, hands‑on, and able to respond to emergency maintenance needs
- English‑speaking or bilingual
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and safely perform the physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
