The Colonnade Hotel in Boston is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer. This role involves general maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel, focusing on guest rooms and meeting spaces. The engineer will perform minor repairs in electrical, plumbing, and kitchen areas.
Ideal candidates should have at least one year of building maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel environment, and strong customer service skills. The position may involve working varying schedules to meet business needs.
A General Maintenance Engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas. This role also involves repair work on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring skills and experience in those areas, as well as strong communication skills to respond to guest room calls.
Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to): preparing and painting surfaces of building structure, furniture, and equipment using proper application techniques, plaster or spackle applications, drywall installation and finishing, mixing paint colors to match existing colors, and applying paint. The engineer will install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the hotel and perform all duties required as a Fire Alarm Response Team.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
