Job summary

The Cleveland Metroparks seeks a General Maintenance 3 to perform skilled trades in HVAC, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and welding across our buildings and facilities.

You will operate a range of equipment and contribute to safe, efficient maintenance, including directing seasonal staff and responding to fire alarm systems. A strong safety mindset and hands-on craftsmanship are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform master level skilled trade work in HVAC.
• Carry out building maintenance tasks: drywall, cabinetry, flooring, locksmithing, ceiling tile repairs, plumbing, electrical, welding.
• Operate equipment such as tractors, chain saws, generators, dump trucks, wheel loaders, backhoes, excavators, and skidsteers.
• Perform safe digging around active utilities and provide construction labor for road and path projects.
• Provide work direction to seasonal employees and respond to fire alarm systems as required.
• Maintain a safe work environment and keep supervisor informed of issues.

Job description

The General Maintenance 3 employee, under direction of the Zoo Manager of Buildings & Facilities, performs skilled tasks which require specialized training, considerable experience and proven abilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the skills of HVAC, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, etc., as they relate to industrial building maintenance and construction.

• Performs master level skilled trade work in HVAC.
• Performs aspects of building maintenance including, but not limited to, drywall installation, cabinetry, flooring, locksmithing, ceiling tile repairs, plumbing, electrical, welding, etc., as assigned.
• Operates equipment such as tractors, chain saws, generators, dump trucks, wheel loaders, backhoes, excavators, and skidsteers.
• Performs safe digging operations around active utilities.
• Provides construction labor for road and path paving, drainage tile, wood deck installation and other construction projects.
• Provides work direction to seasonal employees, as assigned.
• Responds to fire alarm systems, when required.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area.
• Keeps supervisor informed of key issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

• Special skilled trades tools (i.e., power saws, drills, chain saws, welding equipment, electrical test equipment, etc.).
