Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. This work includes, but is not limited to, machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.

Essential Functions
  1. Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  2. Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools.
  3. Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition.
  4. Perform planned maintenance activities such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, and installing electrical equipment.
  5. Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors.
  6. Operate, use, and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary.
  7. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  8. Foster professionalism with all associates, internal and external customers.
  9. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, eliminate risk to health and the environment, notify leadership of unsafe conditions or activities presenting unreasonable health and/or environmental risk, and report all safety and/or environmental incidents immediately.
Non‑Essential Functions
  1. Participate in peer‑based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
  2. Participate on project teams, star point teams, and kaizen events when needed.
  3. Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role.
Minimum Requirements
Education: 2‑year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing preferred.

  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to perform work in hot and cold temperatures.
  • Includes outdoor work.
  • Ability to work at heights above ground level.
  • Lift/carry up to 20 lbs. Perform bending, twisting, reaching below knee, pushing/pulling, squatting/kneeling, standing/walking, and using hands and fingers.
Other Skills: Ability to work well in a team environment. Assessment: Employee must successfully complete pre‑employment screening.
Organizational Relationships / Scope
  • Report directly to Facilities Specialist.
  • Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with processes and equipment.
Working Conditions
  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
  • May be exposed to nuisance fumes and wood dust.
  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel‑toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high‑visibility clothing).
  2. Standing is required for extended periods. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting are performed regularly.
  3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which may be performed under restrictive conditions.
  4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
