Job summary

The Grand Beach Hotel is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee general maintenance across the property, performing journey level trades and preventive tasks. The role requires a strong mechanical background and a commitment to hospitality standards in a busy hotel environment.

Responsibilities include performing repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and related trades, leading maintenance activities, and ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or coursework in engineering/maintenance related field of study.
• Strong mechanical background with minimum 3 years hands on experience in maintenance related activity.
• Knowledge of inventory/ordering procedures.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 75 lbs repetitively.
• Guest service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs journey level maintenance in electrical, plumbing, HVAC/refrigeration, kitchen/laundry, carpenter, painter, locksmith and general maintenance.
• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for primary trade area.
• Provides training and assistance to subordinate engineering positions.
• Responds to trouble/maintenance requests throughout the hotel and grounds as directed.
• May work with hazardous materials and chemicals per MSDS requirements.
• Uses tools and materials safely and efficiently according to instructions.
• Checks maintenance requests daily and communicates status to supervisor.
• Completes records and may assist with setup for hotel functions.
• Is familiar with Hotel Emergency procedures and responds to emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

• Performs work requiring the journey level skills of at least one of the following trades: electrical, plumber, HVAC/refrigeration mechanic, kitchen/laundry mechanic, carpenter, painter, locksmith, in addition to performing other general maintenance duties
• Responsible for performance of all scheduled, preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for the primary trade, area of expertise
• Provides training and assistance to subordinate engineering positions
• Responds to trouble/complaint/maintenance request calls throughout the hotel and grounds when directed to do so by supervisor
• May work with hazardous materials and chemicals in the performance of duties
• Uses tools, equipment, materials and chemicals safely and efficiently according to manufacturer’s instructions/MSDS requirements
• Checks clipboard and Maintenance Requests lists, daily for work assignments, at the beginning of and throughout each shift
• Communicates status of job assignments and maintenance requests to supervisor
• Notifies supervisor/dispatcher as required upon completion of work assignment
• Completes appropriate records associated with work performed
• Makes minor repairs to equipment brought into the shop
• May assist/perform minor set-up duties for functions throughout the hotel and grounds
• Is completely familiar with Hotel Emergency procedures and able to respond quickly and accurately during any emergency situation that may arise
• Other duties as assigned
