Job summary

UNFI in Howell Township, NJ is seeking a maintenance technician responsible for grounds, parking lot, driveways and assisting the Facility Maintenance team with general repairs. You will perform preventative maintenance, repairs across plumbing, carpentry, electrical trades, and keep accurate records. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m. You must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying temperatures; two years of general maintenance experience preferred.

  • Two years general maintenance experience.
  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical trades.
  • Able to work flexible hours; schedule is Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm.

  • Repair building equipment including plumbing, structures, carpentry, dry and wet fire systems, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building equipment including inspection, cleaning, lubrications, adjustments and repairs, etc.

  • Keep accurate records of preventative maintenance and all other work performed.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by Supervisor
  • Communicate with Supervisor daily on changes and problems with building equipment.
  • Clean work area/warehouse and equipment; perform other relevant job duties as required.

Job Responsibilities Percentage

Clean work area/warehouse and equipment /Performs other relevant job duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

  • Good Judgement

  • Two (2) years general maintenance experience
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical trades, mechanical, automotive and/or related to building maintenance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
Physical Environment/ Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
