Job summary

UNFI is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician at the Centralia Distribution Center. You will maintain, install, repair and inspect complex equipment to keep production running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2-3 years of technical maintenance experience, strong reading of blueprints, and the ability to work independently while following safety policies. Training period will precede a Wed-Sat schedule with a later daily shift.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience.
  • 2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • 1-2 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment.
  • Machining and fabrication experience helpful.
  • Understanding of Safety guidelines.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and technical reference manuals.
  • Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work well independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment
  • Efficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.
  • Provide improvements required to ensure compliance to safety regulations to DC and safety team
  • Ensure that department is appropriately stocked with part and tools needed to perform their job
  • Undertakes actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc, on equipment for preventive maintenance purposes
  • Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs
  • Modifies and tests equipment to improve systems uptime and reliability
  • Updates and reviews daily maintenance logs
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures strictly

Job description

We are now hiring an Equipment Maintenance Technician. In this role you will be responsible for the skilled maintenance, installation, repair and inspection work on complex equipment and machinery.

Position Schedule: After the training period, the candidate’s schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Candidates must be able to train 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday for approximately the first month in this position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience
  • 2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment
  • Machining and fabrication experience helpful

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Understanding of Safety guidelines
  • Goodjudgmentis required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and technical reference manuals.
  • Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work well independently
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
  • Ability to operate work related equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
