Job summary

HES Facilities is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support on-campus needs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general building upkeep. The role involves responding to work orders, performing repairs, and coordinating with vendors to maintain the school facilities.

The position requires familiarity with safety policies and ability to work with diverse trades. On-call rotation and on-site work are part of the responsibilities, with benefits including insurance and paid

Responsibilities

• Receive and complete work orders on routine or emergency basis.
• Record time and provide site comments per policy.
• Repair/install sinks, commodes, valves, water lines and drainage.
• Measure, cut, thread piping for replacements or new installs.
• Perform minor electrical repairs and carpentry as needed.
• Conduct daily building inspections and report findings to supervisor.
• Oversee outside vendors when necessary and obtain materials as needed.
• Notify supervisor of supply/equipment needs and safety concerns.
• Rotate shifts to cover Facilities Maintenance schedule.

Essential Accountabilities:

1. 1. Receives electronic, verbal or written instructions to complete work order (WO) assignments on routine or emergency basis.
2. 2. Records start and finish time, provides comments in cell phone specific to actions at job site and in keeping with department policy.
3. 3. Perform various repairs/installations of sinks, commodes, valves and water coolers. Replace damaged water lines, freeing of clogged drainage systems.
4. 4. Ability to measure, cut, thread and prepare piping for replacement or new installations.
5. 5. Ability to perform other duties such as: minor electrical repairs, minor carpentry repairs.
6. 6. Performs daily routine building inspections, reporting findings to supervisor. Verbal or written instructions to complete work order (WO) assignments on routine or emergency basis.

Other Accountabilities:

1. 1. Repair or replace electrical outlets. Change/replace lighting fixtures or tubes/bulbs.
2. 2. Repair/replace broken electrical switches when necessary.
3. 3. Perform minor drywall repairs, adjust door hardware and latches to perform properly.
4. 4. Perform all general duties to maintain buildings in good operating condition.
5. 5. Replace stained ceiling tiles upon repair of any leaks.
6. 6. Oversee outside vendors when necessary.
7. 7. Obtain any necessary materials as needed to complete tasks.
8. 8. Secure needed supplies or equipment and notify proper person of any additional supplies or equipment needs.
9. 9. Observe and report any unusual or emergency situations to the Manager or Director of Facilities Operations
10. 10. Make recommendations to immediate supervisor about how methods and procedures may be improved.
11. 11. Work with other trades within the Facilities Maintenance Department as needed to complete repairs or projects.
12. 12. Rotate as necessary to cover various shifts as schedule requires by the Facilities Maintenance Department.

1. 1. Familiarize self with Department policies and procedures.
2. 2. Become familiar with property, buildings and systems.
3. 3. Work safely, be knowledgeable with all Department Safety Policies and attentive to all safety talks, special instructions and posted safety signs throughout the work area.

Rotational On-Call for Emergencies on campus.
