Job summary

Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd. in Chicago seeks an experienced General Litigation Paralegal to join a busy trial-active defense team. This hybrid role offers hands-on involvement from discovery through hearings, depositions, and trial.

You will own challenging assignments, manage complex matters, and support attorneys through the life cycle of complex litigation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of defense litigation experience.
• Experience with e-discovery and ESI databases.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Proficiency in legal research including LexisNexis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents for attorney review (briefs, pleadings, motions, discovery).
• Manage extensive discovery preparation and coordinate related activities.
• Investigate facts and develop case strategy with attorneys.
• Conduct legal research and analyze statutes and cases.
• Prepare case information for expert witnesses and depositions.
• Abstract depositions and organize key case information.
• Maintain comprehensive document and case files and NetDocs entries.
• Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and vendors.
• Assist with trial preparation, exhibits, and materials.
• Support attorneys during hearings, depositions, and trials.
