Job summary

thefirmconsult represents a well-established Los Angeles law firm seeking a General Liability Defense Attorney with 3–5 years of direct insurance defense experience. The role focuses on managing a diverse caseload from inception through resolution with collaboration across a knowledgeable litigation team.

You will represent insurance carriers and insured clients, draft pleadings and motions, conduct research, take depositions, and participate in hearings and settlements.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• 3–5 years direct insurance defense experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of general liability and insurance defense matters from inception to resolution.
• Represent insureds, businesses, and carriers in civil litigation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
• Take and defend depositions of parties and witnesses.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Communicate with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and experts.
• Assess liability, damages, and litigation exposure.
• Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial as needed.
